As we know, honey is good for health because of its rich nutrition. But it is not suitable for all people. And it is not wise eat honey as you please. There are best times for us to have it.

Honey is especially good for the elderly and the children because it can improve the immune system. It is also suitable for people who have a high blood pressure or who suffer from asthma. But infants are not allowed to eat honey. In the process of brewage, storage and transportation, it is rather easy to be polluted by botulinum toxins. Since infants are weak in resistibility and detoxification, the bacteria would quickly attack the intestines and produce toxins which may lead to severe food poisoning. If the infants are unlucky to be poisoned, they probably would become disabled. Those babies who are under the age of six months are much easier to be infected. As a result, doctors advise infants not to have any honey or relevant products before they are one year old. Besides, diabetics are not allowed to have honey, either.

As for those people who are suggested to eat honey, they should choose a best time. Of the whole year, autumn is the most proper season to have it, while morning is the best in a day. People are suggested to drink 25 grams to 50 grams of honey with warm water every time. During the breakfast, it is also wise to cover bread with it or add some honey into milk. If you want to have some honey between meals, you should eat it about one hour before meal or two to three hours after meal. For athletes and manual workers, honey is very helpful to raise the blood sugar and eliminate the tiredness. They can have it before or after sports and working. When it comes to its clinical applications, 50 grams to 100 grams of honey is enough.

Fresh honey can be eaten immediately. Or you can add some of it to warm water. You should keep in mind that boiled water or water of high temperatures is not advised. It is because high temperatures would destroy the enzymes. The best temperature of water should only vary from 40 degrees to 60 degrees. Moreover, honey should not be put in metal containers.

In addition, it is not allowed to be eaten together with certain kinds of food. The first one is leek. Leek is rich in vitamin C and vitamin D, which will be damaged immediately when they meet minerals like iron and copper in honey. The second one is bean curd. It may cause diarrhea if it is eaten with honey. And the enzymes in honey will not function well when they meet minerals, organic acids and proteins in the bean curd.
